Learning Objectives

Today, I watched a video about how to create Learning Objectives (WLO_demo:)

Definition:
Learning Objectives are "statements of specific measurable learning outcomes that students are realistically expected to attain in a given time.

Purpose:
to tell students what they will be able to do when they successfully complete your course.

Why write them:
Communicates teachers expectations, and to design appropriate activities and assessments

An example of a well written objective:
Upon Successfully completing this course, you will be able to design complex synthetic schemes.

Learning objectives are essential to students and teachers a like. For teachers, it helps them tell the students what they expect, and how to create activities involving assessment. For students, learning objectives help the students understand what they are going to get out of the lesson, and helps them study and perform better on tests, because they are organized. Creating a well written learning objective is one of the most important things a teacher must learn how to to and master it quickly.
